How to take them together

Who should ask a pharmacist first?
- anyone with liver disease or who drinks alcohol regularly (acetaminophen)
- anyone with a stomach ulcer, stomach bleeding, kidney disease, heart disease, or high blood pressure (ibuprofen)
- anyone on a blood thinner such as warfarin
- anyone on an antidepressant such as an SSRI, SNRI, or MAOI, because dextromethorphan can interact with them
- anyone taking prescription sleep, anxiety, or pain medicine, since doxylamine adds to the drowsiness

See a clinician if a fever lasts more than 3 days, pain lasts more than 10 days, or symptoms get worse or come back after improving. These are the limits on the over-the-counter acetaminophen label.
