Indirectly: DHT, a testosterone byproduct, drives male pattern loss - and only in follicles genetically primed to respond, which is why high-T men are not reliably balder, bald men are not low-T, and the same hormone thins the scalp while growing the beard. Practical cases: TRT can accelerate the pattern in primed men - discuss it before starting if the family history is strong; finasteride works by blocking exactly this pathway. The flip: low testosterone does not protect hair and carries its own costs - hair preservation is no reason to stay low.

- Read the family pattern, not the hormone level. Sensitivity is inherited, level is secondary.
