Alvimopan leaves most people's systems within about 2 to 4 days after the final dose, because its half-life is roughly 10 to 17 hours. The course itself is short: it is given in the hospital around bowel surgery, up to 15 doses over 7 days, so it does not accumulate the way a daily long-term drug does.
